Revolutionary Walk Plaza | Historic Interpretation & Placemaking
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY | 2020–2022
Aspect 120 Landscape Architecture P.C. collaborated with local historians, artists, and Village leaders to design Revolutionary Walk Plaza, a thoughtfully crafted public space honoring the Battle of Edgar’s Lane, a Revolutionary War skirmish that occurred nearby.
The plaza features six interpretive panels that tell the story of the battle, creating a meaningful connection to local history. Beyond its commemorative role, the design supports Hastings-on-Hudson’s placemaking and downtown revitalization goals by serving as a welcoming gateway from the Village’s northern approach.
Sustainable site design principles were integrated throughout the project to promote environmental stewardship. Aspect 120 provided comprehensive project leadership, including:
Concept development and design refinement
Public presentations and community engagement
Phased design and cost estimation
Construction documentation and plant selection
Construction phase consultation
Completed in March 2022, Revolutionary Walk Plaza has been enthusiastically embraced by the community, receiving widespread praise for its thoughtful design and cultural significance.
